Thank you for your interest in becoming a Policy Pathways Capstone site! Policy Pathways, Inc., is a nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization based in Richmond, Virginia. Policy Pathways offers academic programs to prepare young people from across the country and around the world for higher education and careers in policy studies, public administration, and policy-related fields in the private and public sectors. We aim to provide equitable access to high-quality policy education and rectify the underrepresentation of students from historically marginalized populations in policy-related degree programs. We welcome a partnership with you and your organization in this endeavor!
Policy Pathways leverages an expert team of academic and research professionals to work with students. Capstone site representatives play an essential role in developing and framing policy-focused projects. Over the past two years, our clients have included:
- Hampton University, Department of Architecture;
- Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development;
- City of Richmond, Office of Community Wealth Building;
- The Center for Women and Food Security-Ghana (CeWaFS-Ghana);
- Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Hampton, VA;
- The International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI), Columbia University;
- The Office of U.S. Senator Tim Kaine; and
- Virginia Department of Transportation.
Completion of a Capstone Project is required for successful matriculation of Policy Pathways programs. The Project affords students the opportunity to reflect intellectually and personally on critical policy issues by 1) applying the theories, concepts, and strategies presented in course lectures, sessions, and workshops to the Capstone Project; 2) gaining hands-on experience working on real-world policy issues; and 3) learning how to be effective team leaders and members.
Serving as a Capstone site would consist of meeting virtually with members of our Policy Pathways administrative team to conceptualize a policy-focused research project, designating a primary contact person who is willing to volunteer to meet (remotely) periodically with Capstone team members, and providing team members with the information necessary to successfully complete their Capstone project.
